Weathering the Storm

There are so many Christians that are in "storms" in their lives. And while it is true that things are going to come against us, I cannot believe that it is God's will for us to be so depressed and destroyed by these storms. I think I found something in the Bible that will help us during the storms of life.

"Therefore whosever hears these sayings of Mine, (this is Jesus speaking) and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." Matthew 7:25

So we have a storm coming against us. Here is the answer: Hear Jesus' saying and do them. It's not enough to hear the Word. We have to obey it also. Because we have His Word in our heart, we have a firm foundation. We can stand against the storms of life. They will not destroy us. They will not cause us to fall.

"And everyone that hears these sayings of Mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Matthew 7:26-27

Same storm, completely different results. The difference is obeying the Word. I pray we can all understand how important the Bible is for us. And that we will study and it apply it to our lives.
